Spring 2023 Intern: Social Media and Public Relations

Job Description

This internship at Forge will be focused primarily on marketing and PR activities.  This internship will focus on social media management, podcast production and blog writing as well as supporting the Marketing and Community Manager in day to day requirements at Forge.  We are looking for an intern that is  self-motivated and ready to serve all members Forge, Birmingham Coworking Collective and the Forge Team.

Roles and Responsibilities

Roles at Forge:

  • 8-10 hours/wk
  • Manage Birmingham Coworking Collective Instagram account. This will include reaching out to each of the members on a biweekly basis to see if there is any content that needs to be promoted. It will also include keeping up with the daily stories on Instagram
  • Develop a strategy for promoting Birmingham Coworking Collective on social media
  • Weekly process tasks for publishing podcast – sending informational packet to podcast guest, collecting all information needed from guests, create show notes for episode, create teaser for social media posting, upload episode to hosting platform…
  • Write 8-10 Blog posts
  • Assist Forge Marketing and Community Manager in day to day support.
  • Support Forge team in other projects as they arise

Forge Intern Requirements

Key Characteristics of a Forge Intern

You are a self-starter, problem solver and a good communicator.  You must be able to juggle several tasks at the same time and be able to prioritize those tasks. Many of the initiatives of the intern will be new, so you must be willing to be a problem solver and present solutions.

Skills and Requirements

  • You have working knowledge of Google Sheets, Doc and Slides. You are tech savy with the ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues.
  • You have exceptional Customer Services skills, including the ability to remain calm and flexible in a continually changing environment, always maintaining the customer first attitude.
  • Must provide your own laptop

Forge Customer Service Requirements for All Forge Team Members

  • Represent Forge as a welcoming and trustworthy place for members and guests. We are in the business of serving our members with excellence!
  • Develop an atmosphere of comfort and trust with our members.
  • Learn and be proficient in all software systems (Office R&D, Slack, Google Drive, CRM, Notion, Zapier)
  • Provide tours and onboard new members
  • Perform opening, daily and/or closing shift duties including, making coffee, preparing conference rooms, restocking kitchen, always making sure Forge is clean and tidy, front desk shifts…
  • Book conference rooms and event space
